i get bitch-slapped by life

Last week, the Chicago Public Schools were closed for three days. Next week, the Chicago Public Schools are closed two days. This week, the schools are open all week - so it is really important that I be able to work this week.

This week is also tech week for the DADA show, so I teched 16 hours this past weekend. I was at tech for over 5 hours last night. I've got tech tonight and tomorrow night as well. I also have tutoring tonight as well as last night. And tonight is my final class for my grad program.

So when did I get a cold? Last week, when I could have spent three days in bed? Of course not! Did it wait until after the show opened this weekend, when I didn't have to be in tech every night? Of course not!

I got a massive cold on Sunday, which peaked about 6 pm last night, right as I headed into 5 hours of tech. By the end of tech last night, I was on the verge of passing out from exhaustion and illness. I was supposed to work this morning, but after less than 6 hours of sleep, I was not sufficiently well to spend a day at a school. I just had another 4 hours of sleep, and am feeling somewhat better. Hopefully, I can work the last three days of this week, and the first three days of next week, to get some money in the bank.

This is a kick in the teeth to someone who "never" gets sick.

GAH! I didn't know you were sick! Poor thing! Mine fortunately hit me a couple of weeks ago, and I hope it doesn't come back. I hope you get as much sleep and wellness as you need, and please know that you are incredible and amazing for dealing with all those crazy DADAs and that schedule. And also please know that I personally am so lucky to have you in the show, because of (among many many other things) your understanding of Flutter-speak. :-)

I love you!
